Earlier this week, Seldon’s VP of Product Tanu Chellam was named by accelerateHER as one of the most inspiring women in UK technology. The Inspiring Fifty award runs as part of London Tech Week, and puts a spotlight on 50 women excelling in technology across the UK, to increase diversity and make female role models more visible. Tanu is named alongside an impressive roster of female tech talent, from a variety of different sectors, including healthcare, finance and retail.
Tanu joined Seldon earlier this year as a key hire in driving forward product management, design and developer relations. Prior to joining Seldon, Tanu worked extensively in the technology sector, bringing more than 15 years of experience working in both startups and corporate environments to the role. Separately, Tanu chairs Rosetta Digital, a technology venture builder consultancy specialising in helping businesses build a dominant online presence. Tanu was also recently named as one of Management Today’s 35 Women under 35. Read more about Tanu’s career to date and role in her appointment blog post here.
The Inspiring Fifty serve as important role models and actively work to encourage more girls and women to pursue careers in technology. In turn, this helps to break down diversity barriers and challenge the societal norms of what it means to be a tech leader. As an award, Inspiring Fifty champions both women and minorities in the tech space with the aim of generating a positive impact across business growth, innovation, culture, and productivity.
Among the winners were Dr. Bhavagaya Bakshi, who is working to change the face of healthcare as Obama Foundation Leader for Europe; BBC radio host and diversity consultant Sonya Barlow, who founded the Like Minded Females Network (LMF Network CIC); and Tanya Suarez, the founder of IoT Tribe, a startup accelerator Tanu is a business mentor for.
To celebrate the win, Seldon’s VP of Product Development attended an event as part of London Tech Week on Monday, September 20th, which included a day of panels and networking. Tanu was joined by the likes of former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and Stephanie Boyce, President of the Law Society of England and Wales. The Inspiring Fifty awards reception followed, during which Tanu was announced alongside an extensive list of fellow inspiring women, all at the forefront of their fields.
Tanu Chellam, VP of Product at Seldon, said:
“I am honoured and humbled to be named alongside so many accomplished women as part of this year’s Inspiring Fifty. Diversity is something I’m hugely passionate about, and these awards are a testament to the progress being made to increase inclusivity in technology. For the industry to truly thrive, more women need to drive forward change to create a positive impact. I had the pleasure of speaking with many of these great women at the event, all of whom continue to excel in their careers to inspire the next generation of female tech professionals. In my role at Seldon, I will continue to foster an inclusive and diverse workforce of world-class talent.”
