Seldon is delighted to announce the appointment of technology entrepreneur Tanu Chellam as the company’s new Vice President of Product. Reporting directly to CEO and founder Alex Housley, Tanu will be responsible for driving forward product management, design and developer relations teams.
A Harvard Business School and Carnegie Mellon University alumni, Tanu joins Seldon with more than 15 years of experience in the technology sector, having worked in both startups and corporate environments across the world. Separately, Tanu chairs Rosetta Digital, a technology venture builder consultancy she co-founded and previously ran as Managing Director. Tanu was also recently named as one of Management Today’s 35 Women under 35.
In addition to product strategy, Tanu will also be focused on executing Seldon’s ambitious plans for growth by hiring more world-class talent to join the team, having already hired a new Head of Developer Relations. Seldon’s growth plans also include two more hires in product management: a Senior Product Manager for Serving with a DevOps focus and another Senior Product Manager for Monitoring that is Data Science focused.
Tanu’s career began in Singapore with a website design and development firm. After moving to the US, Tanu then pivoted to help found a non-profit international development consultancy, with strong partnerships with the United Nations. After a major accident in 2012, Tanu’s perspective on life changed, and she stepped into an advisory role with the non-profit while moving into a series of intrapreneurship pursuits at the likes of Credit Suisse, Barracuda Networks and Autodesk. At the latter, she was responsible for customer experience for more than 300 digital products and led product strategy across a global team.
In 2020, Tanu moved to the UK and co-founded Rosetta Digital, running it as a 100% remote global consultancy in light of the pandemic and scaled the team to around ten employees before stepping back to a board advisory role to take on her new role as Vice President of Product Management at Seldon full-time.
Commenting on her new role, Tanu Chellam, Vice President of Product Management at Seldon, said:
“I was drawn to Seldon because of the way in which we are redefining machine learning deployment. I find it fascinating how companies are using this technology to define the future and I am thrilled to be steering Seldon’s product offering forward, especially at this stage in its journey. The opportunities ahead are very exciting and I’m honoured to be leading the product vision and strategy for Seldon. I believe that a great product manager has the technical acumen of an engineer, the business chops of a salesperson or marketer and the customer empathy of a designer. With upcoming hires for product managers at Seldon, this is what I will be looking for and will help them grow through bringing these qualities to the business.”
As the business continues to evolve and move along its growth trajectory, Tanu is keen to prioritise Seldon Deploy Advanced and offer tiered offerings with it. Her remit will include building product management, design and developer relations best practices, executing product vision, and hiring yet more world-class talent at Seldon.
Commenting on the new appointment, Alex Housley, founder and CEO at Seldon, added:
“The best product managers are adaptable, multidisciplinary and able to bridge different fields effectively; Tanu’s extensive experience in product strategy and scaling teams will be a huge asset to the team at Seldon and help her to achieve exactly that. This strategic appointment will help guide Seldon towards more long-term success as we expand our team and product offering further. Throughout this period of growth, we aim to double our headcount by the end of this year and Tanu’s appointment to our management team will ensure that Seldon continues to raise the bar as a leader in machine learning deployment and open source solutions.”
